Located between the areas affectionately known as the "black" and "green" Périgords, we offer 4 prestigious holiday accommodation units (or "gîtes"), accommodating up to 2or 4 people each.
It would be our pleasure to welcome you to this estate which has been in our family since the 17th century, and where we have endeavoured to bring together tradition and modernity in a harmonious way. Each Gîte has ancestor first name.
After a corporate career in Human Resources management, I made the decision to come back to the Périgord to preserve the family estate and keep it running.
Xavier and I undertook a significant restoration project that we finished in 2010.
Our family has always upheld a tradition of receiving guests. We choose to sustain this convivial spirit, combining it with a respect for our guests’ independence and privacy. We have used the architecture of the property (a farm with a manor and outbuildings arranged around a courtyard) to create a space that will give you both independence and the opportunity to socialize with other holidaymakers in the shared areas (the leisure room, garden, pool and spa).
To ensure your comfort and tranquillity, we have equipped and arranged the spaces with exceptional care.
Not long ago, it was a farm that was gradually shut down. Foie gras is still produced by my brother Didier in a new location, but from July to October you can still observe the fields where flocks of geese move around. If you'd like, you can also have a taste of a few products sold directly at the farm (strawberries, red fruits)
In the nearby fields, horses graze, including Dauphin, a half-pony, Robinson and Pinocchio our donkeys, who will be the first to come running if you bring out leftover bread.
We also have a dog Gina and ours cats Debussy and Die Katze.
Thank you for understanding that we cannot accommodate your pets
Coming back to the Périgord is not only a way of maintaining a family tradition; it gives us a chance to share our love of this area.
Dordogne-Périgord offers you the opportunity to discover a variety of cultural and leisure options, including historic and archaeological tours and open-air activities. Whether you enjoy nature, culture, or epicurean delights, this is the ideal destination for your holiday.
To acquaint you with the region and help you make your choices, we provide a brochure display area as well as our own knowledge and experience. Our geographical location is central for visits to the entire Périgord.
But we would especially enjoy letting you in on "well kept secrets" that are less known and visited.
We would be happy to show you around the village of Ajat and explain a bit of its history to you.
We hope to see you soon in the Périgord at Domaine des Ormeaux.
